And I wonder why...

...we go through so much toilet paper in such a short time. I went in the kids' bathroom a while ago to turn off the light and found this:

To Noah's credit, he did tell me that he was playing with the toilet paper when I asked him why it took him so long to go potty. I just didn't think it was to this extent. I had literally just replaced the toilet paper about an hour ago!

Sock Monkeys: Take 2 (and 3)

After completing my other evil looking sock monkey, I was a little scared to make another one. The idea was to make something that my kids would enjoy playing with...not to scare the poop out of them! However, I still needed to make a couple more for the girls. Lemme just tell you, these turned out WAY better than my first one did! First of all, I used women's socks instead of smaller kid size ones. It takes a little longer because they are bigger but not much longer. Now that these turned out so cute, I'm going to do another one for Noah and use the last one as my 'test monkey'. If anyone is wanting to do homemade gifts or stocking stuffers, these are great! They are inexpensive and easy to make! Just make sure you don't follow the example of my first one (~grins~)

Mrs. Sew n' So

Lately, I have been in the mood to sew and make things. I am a novice at best when it comes to sewing. It is something I know I'll enjoy once I do it...well :) I just need more practice. So, when cruising the 'world wide interweb' recently, I came across a tutorial for making sock monkeys here. It seemed really easy and I thought it would be a cute stocking stuffer (no pun intended) for the kids. Yesterday, during nap time, I gathered all my essentials: socks, thread, stuffing, sewing machine, the laptop for the instructions, and most important of all-my mom, a once-upon-a-time seamstress. She taught me lots of the tricks of the trade and the little secrets that make things come together easier. It took us the entire 2 hour nap time and we didn't quite finish. So, last night after the kids went to bed, I pulled it out and finished it. I think it was definitely more of a learning experience. And now that I have one under my belt, I can make a few more! The fun thing is that they will all look different. My mom's looks more like a gorilla because she stuffed the face so much! Mine turned out looking a little evil because I used black buttons for eyes. Like I said, a learning experience.....

Sew, after I finished the monkey, I decided to try out something else. My mom taught me how to do a blanket stitch. I used one of Posey's white onesies and pink thread...not just regular thread, the thick stuff...you know the thick stuff you used to braid/tie into friendship bracelets back in middle school. By this time, my creativity started to really flow and I was into this whole sewing thing. This is what I created:

Pretty cute, I thought and I think she likes it, too!

8 Weeks of Posey

Today, my sweet little Posey is 8 weeks! I can't believe she's already so old! She has been such a joy and an easy going baby. Noah and Kendall love to shower her with kisses and hugs although it makes me very nervous sometimes! She is smiling and even cooing. She is still sleeping in our bedroom which is hard for me to believe that I've allowed that this long! Noah was in his own room after a few weeks. Kendall was in her own room at 2 weeks...as soon as my mom and dad, who were staying in her room, left! I'm sure, had my parents not been staying with us, she would have been in her own room and bed from day one! I've been waiting to put Posey in her room until she begins sleeping through the night since she shares a room with Kendall. It doesn't seem that we're getting any closer to sleeping through the night. I've been breastfeeding her and since babies digest breast milk faster than formula she's waking up hungry and not sleeping through the night as early as her brother and sister did (who were formula fed after a short bout of unsuccessful nursing). So, over the weekend, I began supplementing with formula in hopes of a baby who slept through the night. Well, it hasn't happened yet, folks, but I'm hoping for really soon! I'm sure I'll let you know!

Cutest Cooks

Growing up, I was always in kitchen baking and helping my mom cook. I learned a lot from her (and am still learning). I love to bake and cook, especially with someone else. With that said, one day last week, Noah and Kendall helped me bake cookies. It's not been until just recently that I've let them in the kitchen when I was cooking or baking. I realized that they would not learn if I never let them. I must admit, it is a challenge for me to let them 'help.' After finally giving up control and not caring if we made a mess, we had a great time! It is something that I hope to do more often and hope that they will love to do it as much as I do! (Yes, they are wearing my old aprons that have my name on them....back from Cracker Barrel server days in college!)

A conversation at our supper table tonight:

Noah: "Momma, I'm a mooooo cow!"

Jason: "You wish..."

Noah: "No, I not a wish. I'm a cow! Moooooooooooooooo!"

Which one of these is not like the other?

Today, I came across this old picture of Noah. I was shocked at the resemblance between him and Posey! So, it sent me on a search through my old pics to see if I could show you just how much they look alike and just how different Kendall looks from them! These pictures were all taken when each one was about 6 weeks old.

Gobble! Gobble!

If April showers bring May flowers, what do May flowers bring?
Pilgrims

Why did the turkey sit on the tomahawk?
To try to hatchet!

What does a Pilgrim call his best friend?
A palgrim.

How did Albert Einstein celebrate Thanksgiving?
He was very thinkful.

A lady was picking through the frozen turkeys at the grocery store, but couldn't find one big enough for her family. She asked the stock boy, "Do these turkeys get any bigger?" The stock boy answered, "No ma'am, they're dead."

Two pilgrims go out hunting. One has two blunderbusses (guns). The second pilgrim asks, “Why do you have two blunderbusses?”The first pilgrim explains, “I usually miss the first time I shoot. By taking two I can shoot again”. The second pilgrim thinks for a while and then says, “Why not just take the second one, and only shoot once?”

What would you get if you crossed a turkey with an evil spirit?
A poultrygeist!

The Vote is in...

I'm the favorite....for now.

This morning, I heard the best words come out of my two and a half year old's mouth. He's sitting in my lap cuddling when he looks up at me and says, 'Momma, you're my favorite momma."
